Paint visible ductwork behind grilles, registers, and diffusers dull black. <br />3.04 INSTALLATION OF FIRE DAMERS AND FIRE/SMOKE DAMPERS: <br />A. Install fire dampers, smoke dampers, and combination fire/smoke dampers in accordance <br />with manufacturer's printed installation instructions including provisions for any <br />supplementary framing and blocking of metal or wood studs in drywall partitions. Install <br />dampers at locations indicated on the drawings and in accordance with manufacturer's UL <br />approved installation instructions. Coordinate requirements for this work with Division 9. <br />Costs of all such supplemental framing shall be borne by this Contractor. Placement of <br />framing units shall remain work of Division 9. <br />B. Install dampers square and free from racking with blades running horizontally. Do not <br />compress or stretch damper frame into duct or opening. Handle damper using sleeve or <br />frame. Do not lift damper using blades, actuator, or jackshaft. <br />C. Install bracing for multiple section assemblies to support assembly weight and to hold <br />against system pressure. Install bracing as needed. <br />D. Upon completion of this work, the installing contractor shall test all fire/smoke dampers in <br />the presence of the IOR and local fire department. Complete testing to the complete <br />satisfaction of the IOR and local fire department. <br />E. Provide spare fusible links as required to complete testing to the complete satisfaction of the <br />local fire department <br />3.05 INSTALLATION OF TURNING VANES: <br />A. Install turning vanes in square or rectangular 90 -degree elbows in supply, return, and <br />exhaust air systems and elsewhere as indicated. <br />3.06 INSTALLATION OF DUCT ACCESS DOORS: <br />A. Provide for inspection and cleaning before and after filters, coils, fans, automatic dampers, <br />at fire dampers, smoke dampers, combination fire/smoke dampers, before humidifiers and <br />duct heating coils, and at turning vanes, splitter dampers. In addition, provide access doors <br />at minimum 50 feet on center in duct runs to facilitate cleaning. Review locations prior to <br />fabrication. Doors shall be square, sized to 3/4 of the larger of the duct width or height, but <br />no smaller than 8" x 8" nor no larger than 24" x 24". <br />B. Install access doors to open against system air pressure, with latches operable from either <br />side, except outside only where duct is too small for person to enter. <br />C. Coordinate with other work as necessary to interface installation of duct accessories <br />properly with other work. <br />D. Field Quality Control: Operate installed duct accessories to demonstrate compliance with <br />requirements. Test for air leakage while system is operating. Repair or replace faulty <br />accessories as required to obtain proper operation and leakproof performance. <br />3.07 INSTALLATION OF FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS: <br />Tel <br />
