FIRE ALARM SYSTEM <br />Section 16710 <br />15-1207 <br />school activities and as approved by District. Contractor shall provide technicians to conduct all <br />testing (from same firm preparing submittals and performing fire alarm work). Testing shall be <br />coordinated to include the Project Inspector and a representative from Engineer's office. <br />At time of testing, Contractor shall insure that his submittal will reflect all materials and work <br />necessary to make new equipment function properly with existing. <br />C. Detector locations shown on drawings are approximate only. Exact locations shall be <br />coordinated with lighting and mechanical equipment and shall be placed in accordance with <br />manufacturer's recommendations (with respect to supply air diffusers, etc.). <br />D. Detectors, strobes, and horn/strobes (including minihorn/strobes) in student toilet rooms shall <br />be provided with wire guards. <br />E. Fire alarm circuits shall be terminated on screw terminals. Terminal blocks shall be <br />Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1492 with 600 volt screw terminals for #22 to #10 conductors, mounted <br />to type N22 channel, or approved equal. Submittal shall show internal elevation of terminal <br />cabinets or backboards with equipment laid out. <br />F. All cables entering terminal cabinet shall be identified with Brady or E -Z Code wire markers. <br />Upon completion of installation, six (6) copies of one -line "as -built" wiring diagram shall be <br />furnished to Architect. <br />G. Each cable run on wiring diagram shall be identified with exact wire marker code (numerical or <br />alphabetical) as appears in terminal cabinets. <br />H. Station locations shall be identified by school's actual room numbers and system shall be <br />programmed accordingly. Coordinate actual room numbers with District. Coordinate final <br />programming with District. Contractor shall furnish a printed copy of final programming to <br />District. <br />End -of -line resistors shall be installed in terminal cabinets. <br />J. Color code wiring for the system to match existing color coding scheme. <br />K. No splices shall occur in underground pullboxes. Fire alarm system wiring shall be continuous, <br />without splices, from terminal cabinet to signal cabinet and signal cabinet to devices. All interior <br />pullboxes shall be accessible and locations shall be recorded on "As -Built" drawings. <br />3.02 CONSTRUCTION MEETINGS <br />A. The Contractor shall schedule construction meetings at the jobsite as follows: <br />1. Pre -rough -in meeting shall occur before installation of any boxes, raceways, etc. Exact <br />locations of all detectors and strobes shall be established as recommended by Fire Alarm <br />System subcontractor. <br />2. Pre -wire meeting shall occur after raceways are installed and prior to pulling of any wire or <br />cable. <br />3. Pre -termination meeting shall occur after wire and cable has been installed and prior to <br />5 <br />
