VOICE & DATA COMMUNICATIONS <br />Section 16760 <br />15-1207 <br />5.2 MOVES, ADDS, AND CHANGES <br />A. Purpose: <br />1. The purpose of this section is to provide the scope of work detailing Moves, Adds, and <br />Changes (MACs) related to the new construction, modernization, and relocating of buildings. <br />2. This specification is to outline if such changes do occur that MACs do not impact other building <br />infrastructure and network services. <br />3. This specification shall outline the precautions needed to ensure that buildings impacted by <br />such changes are taken into account during planning, and to ensure that network infrastructure <br />and services are included during implementation. <br />B. Procedure: <br />1. During planning of new construction, modernization, and relocating of building, facilities, <br />contractors, and other departments shall include the Information Technology department to <br />ensure that the scope of such changes will not impact IT related services. <br />2. If changes will impact IT related services, IT will inform the responsible parties of the impact <br />and defer responsible parties to the IT specifications. <br />3. Responsible parties performing the scope of such changes, should ensure that the network <br />infrastructure is accountant for in planning and budget <br />C. Scope: <br />Moves, Adds, and Changes <br />a. Prior to building removal and tear downs, a thorough investigation will be required to <br />ensure that any IT related services are not impacting other buildings. <br />b. If IT related services are impacted, measures will need to be put in place prior to building <br />removal and tear downs to ensure no IT related services are lost during such changes. <br />c. If adding network endpoints such as, but not limited to, cameras, clock/speaker, horns, <br />wireless access points, and additional network drops. Network Switch port capacity <br />should be surveyed to ensure port availability. <br />d. If additional network equipment is needed, cabinet size may need to be increase to <br />accommodate additional network equipment and wire management. <br />e. If such changes require Network Cabinets MDF and IDFs to be added defer to IT <br />specifications. <br />f. If such changes due to modernizations, building removals, and tear downs, the <br />responsible parties (Facilities and/or Contractor) shall be responsible for removal of <br />network equipment such as, but not limited to, routers, switches, UPS, VoIP phones, <br />security cameras, wireless access points, clocks/speakers, horns, and network cabinets. <br />g. Facilities and/or Contractor shall be responsible for storing equipment in a secured <br />location. <br />h. Contractors shall be responsible for repurposing the equipment for re -use once new <br />building or locations of equipment is needed to restore IT related services. <br />i. Contractor shall defer to IT specifications to ensure re -deployment of network equipment <br />is consistent with IT standards. <br />j. Contractor shall be responsible for reconfiguring network equipment to current IT <br />standard configurations. These standard configurations can be obtained by contacting <br />the Network Supervisor in the IT department. <br />15 <br />
