TRENCHING AND BACKFILLING <br />Section 02210 <br />15-1207 <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSPECTION <br />A. Verification of Conditions: <br />1. Examine areas and conditions under which work is to be performed. <br />2. Identify conditions detrimental to proper or timely completion of work and <br />coordinate with General Contractor to rectify. <br />3.02 COORDINATION <br />A. General Contractor shall coordinate work as herein specified, in accordance with <br />drawings and as required to complete scope of work with all related trades. <br />3.03 INSTALLATION <br />A. Perform work in accordance with pipe manufacturer's recommendations, as herein <br />specified and in accordance with drawings. <br />3.04 TRENCHING <br />A. Make all trenches open vertical construction with sufficient width to provide free working <br />space at both sides of trench around installed item as required for caulking, joining, and <br />backfilling and compacting; not less than 12 inches wider than pipe or conduit diameter, <br />unless otherwise noted. <br />B. Carefully excavate around existing utilities to avoid unnecessary damage. The <br />contractor shall anticipate and perform hand work near existing utilities as shown on the <br />survey, without additional claims or cost. <br />C. Trench straight and true to line and grade with bottom smooth and free of edges or rock <br />points. <br />D. Where depths are not shown on the plans, trench to sufficient depth to give minimum fill <br />above top of installed item measured from finish grade above the utility as follows: <br />1. Sewer pipe: depth to vary <br />2. Storm drain pipe: depth to vary <br />3. Water pipe - Fire Supply: Winches <br />4. Water pipe — Domestic Supply: 30 inches <br />3.05 BACKFILL <br />A. Pipe Trench Backfill is divided into three zones: <br />1. Bedding: Layer of material directly under the pipe upon which the pipe is laid. <br />2. Pipe Zone: Backfill from the top of the bedding to 6 inches (compacted) over the <br />top of the pipe. <br />3. Upper Zone: Backfill between top of Pipe Zone and to surface of subgrade. <br />M <br />
