CONCRETE REINFORCEMENT
Section 03200
15-1207
a. Lap splices in concrete: Lap splice lengths not less than 75 bar diameters, 36"
minimum for #6 bars and smaller. 93 bar diameters for #7 bars and larger.
b. Lap splices in CMU: Lap splice lengths not less than 75 bar diameters; 40"
minimum, unless otherwise shown. Bars of size #8 and larger shall be spliced by
welding or by approved mechanical connectors. Mechanical connectors shall
develop 125% of the specified yield strength of the bar in tension.
C. Welded splices: Butt and complete penetration weld per AWS D1.4 to develop, in
tension, not less than 125% of bar yield strength.
3.03 CLEANING
A. At time of placing concrete, clean reinforcement and any other embedded items thoroughly
of loose rust, mill scale, oil, grease, and other foreign material that reduces or destroys bond.
3.04 WELDING
A.
