MISCELLANEOUS METALS <br />Section 05110 <br />15-1207 <br />support and anchorage, and to hold the ladder clear of wall with minimum 7" clearance <br />from wall to rung centerline. <br />5. Extend rails 42" above top rung, and return rails to wall or structure unless other secure <br />handholds are provided. If adjacent structure does not extend above top rung, goose- <br />neck the extended rails back to structure for ladder access. <br />6. Provide nonslip surface on the top of each rung, either by coating the rung with <br />aluminum oxide granules set in epoxy resin adhesive, or by using a type of <br />manufactured rung which is permeated with aluminum oxide grout. <br />7. Provide all necessary brackets and fittings for installation. <br />8. Provide metal landing at top rung where ladder bridges parapet wall. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSPECTION <br />A. Prior to all work of this Section, carefully inspect and verify that the installed work of all other <br />trades is complete to the point where fabrication and installation of the work of this Section <br />may properly commence. <br />B. Make all required measurements in the field to ensure proper fit of miscellaneous metal <br />items. <br />C. Verify that miscellaneous metal may be fabricated and installed in strict accordance with the <br />original design and the approved Shop Drawings. <br />D. In the event of discrepancy, immediately notify the Architect. Do not proceed with fabrication <br />or installation in discrepant areas until discrepancies have been fully resolved. <br />3.02 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Fabrication and welding shall be in compliance with referenced standards. <br />B. Welded joints: All welds shall be full length or perimeter of joint or seam. Welded -in butt <br />joints shall be V -groove type. Grind all exposed welds smooth. Welds in butt joints shall be <br />ground flush with surface. <br />C. Surface finish: All exposed surfaces, corner, edges, etc., of items and assemblies shall be <br />smooth, free of sharp and injurious points and edges. <br />D. Rough hardware: <br />1. Provide bent or otherwise custom fabricated bolts, plates, anchors, hanger, dowel, and <br />other miscellaneous steel and iron shapes as required for framing and for anchoring or <br />securing framing to concrete and other structures. <br />2. Manufacture or fabricate items of sizes, shapes, and dimensions required. <br />E. Shop clean: After fabrication, thoroughly clean steel of all loose mill scale, rust splatter, slag <br />or flux deposits, oil, dirt, and other foreign matter. <br />F. Shop priming: After cleaning, except where other finishes are hereinbefore specified, all <br />ferrous metal shall be given one shop coat of specified primer. Parts inaccessible after <br />5 <br />
