METAL DECK <br />Section 05300 <br />15-1207 <br />A108, Grade 1015 or 1020. Minimum tensile strength 60,000 psi; Minimum elongation <br />20 percent in two inches, AWS Table 7. 1, Type B. <br />3. Dimensional tolerances of shear connectors shall be in accordance with Fig. 7.1 of <br />AWS Code. Size and length shall be as indicated on Structural Drawings. <br />4. Arc shield ferrule of heat -resistant ceramic material shall be furnished with each stud. <br />5. Suitable deoxidizing and arc -stabilizing flux for welding shall be furnished with each <br />stud of 5/16 inch diameter or larger. Studs less than 5/16 inch in diameter may be <br />furnished with or without flux. <br />6. Only studs with qualified stud bases in accordance with AWS Appendix IX shall be <br />used. See Submittals. <br />7. Ceramic ferrules used in stud welding process shall be completely removed by <br />Fabricator/Erector from area where concrete is to be placed. <br />8. Galvanizing Repair: Where galvanized surfaces are damaged, prepare surfaces and <br />repair in accordance with procedures specified in ASTM A780. <br />9. Welding Electrodes: Conform to AWS A5.1 and AWS A5.5. <br />D. Painted Finish: Where painted finish is specified, over galvanizing, it shall be manufacturers <br />standard; baked on, rust inhibitive, applied to chemically cleaned phosphate surface. Use a <br />zinc rich touch up paint where required. <br />2.03 FABRICATION <br />A. General: <br />1. Use deck designed in accordance with specifications for "North American Specification <br />for the Design of Cold -Formed Steel Structural Members" prepared and published by <br />American Iron and Steel Institute; and in compliance with SDI Design Manual, <br />Publication No. 31 prepared and published by Steel Deck Institute. <br />2. Form deck units in lengths to span three or more supports, with flush, telescoped, or <br />nested 2 -inch laps at ends and interlocking or nested side laps, of metal thickness, <br />depth, and width as indicated. <br />a. Nominal height: Fluted profile, see Structural Drawings for specific deck profiles. <br />b. Formed sheet width: 24 or 36 inches see Drawings for specific deck profiles; 12 <br />inches for deep deck type. <br />B. Steel Roof Deck: Provide roof deck or acoustical roof deck to comply with this specification <br />and structural drawings. <br />C. Metal Closure Strips: Fabricate metal closure strips, for cell raceways and openings between <br />decking and other construction, of not less than 0.045 -inch min. (18 gage) sheet steel or to <br />match adjacent decking gage, whichever is heavier. Include cover plates required to cover <br />gaps where deck units abut or change direction, around columns, to cover access holes used <br />for welding, and closures where required. Form to provide tight -fitting closures at open ends <br />of cells or flutes and sides of decking. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSPECTION <br />A.
