Verify that specified items may be installed in accordance with the approved design.
C. In event of discrepancy, immediately notify Architect. Do not proceed in discrepant areas
until discrepancies have been fully resolved.
3.02 INSTALLATION
A. General: Install deck units and accessories in accordance with manufacturer's
recommendations, shop drawings, and as specified herein. Deck units shall not be placed on
supporting members until all structural steel is completely installed, plumbed and connections
are completed.
B. Deck Units shall be placed on supporting steel framework and adjusted to final position
before being permanently fastened. Do not stretch or contract side lap interlocks. Each unit
shall lap a minimum two inches over supports. Each unit shall be brought to proper bearing
on the supporting beams. If the supporting beams are not properly aligned or sufficiently
level to permit proper bearing of the steel units, the Contractor shall notify the Architect prior
to taking corrective action to insure properly aligned work.
C. Align deck units for entire length of run of cells and with close alignment between cells at
ends of abutting units.
D. Place deck units flat and square, secured to adjacent framing without warp or deflection.
E. Do not place deck units on concrete supporting structure until concrete has cured and is dry.
F. Coordinate and cooperate with structural steel erector in locating decking bundles to prevent
overloading of structural members.
G. Fastening Deck Units: Deck sheets shall be plug welded to the supporting member and in
each other with welds as listed below unless otherwise noted on the drawings.
1. Composite Metal Deck Units shall be fastened to steel framework at ends and at
intermediate supports by puddle welds not less than 3/4 inch diameter, spaced not
more than 12 inch apart. Where deck sections abut, a line of welds shall be made in
each section. Where deck runs parallel to beam without shear connectors, deck shall
be fastened to beam by welds not less than 3/4 inch diameter and not less than 12 inch
apart.
2. Side laps of deck unit shall be fastened by welding not more than 12 inches apart.
Mechanical fastening of side laps with "Delta Grip System" per IAPMO Report ER 0161
or approved equal at 24 inches max on center on roofs and 36 inch max on floors may
be done with approval of Architect. Minimum diaphragm shear capacity shall be 1389
plf.
4. Weld all closure angles and plates with 3/4" diameter or 3/8"x 1-1/4 " fusion welds at
18" apart. End closures of deck units shall be fastened by tack welding not more than
48 inches apart Tack weld accessory cover plates adequately into place.
5. Weld metal shall penetrate layers of deck material and shall have good fusion to
supporting members.
6. Deck fastenings indicated above are minimum requirements, and shall be in
accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and the structural drawings.
1.1
