Certificates will be required for items used structurally but furnished under <br />Millwork Section. <br />2. Moisture Content: Lumber shall have maximum moisture content of 19% at the time of <br />installation. All lumber must be at the specified 19% maximum moisture content prior to <br />being encased by insulation, gypboard, or other surrounding architectural materials. <br />The Contractor shall take all measures necessary to provide lumber meeting these <br />criteria. No schedule delays will be permitted to meet moisture content requirements. <br />3. Wane: Wane is not allowed on the face of members at plywood edge joints. Wane is <br />further prohibited within the bearing area of supporting connectors, or within <br />connections where it will reduce the strength of the connection. The Contractor shall <br />monitor the use of wane material for conformance with these requirements and cull out <br />any non -conforming material for use as blocking. <br />B. Plywood Sheathing: Each panel shall be legibly identified as to type, grade and species glue <br />per American Plywood Association specification. <br />2.03 EQUIPMENT <br />A. Powder Actuated Fasteners: Hilti, Ramset, or accepted equal. <br />1. General: Powder -actuated fastening systems may be used where shown, specified, or <br />elsewhere required, except in structural connections required to carry computed <br />stresses. All connectors and powder charges shall be used in strict accordance with <br />manufacturer's instructions, and shall only be used by certified operators. <br />2. Application: Methods shall be in accordance with Article 28, Powder -Actuated Tools, <br />Paragraph 1685, of Title 8, California Code of Regulations. <br />3. Holding Power: Demonstration of satisfactory and secure fastenings made at site <br />under actual job conditions will be required before proceeding with work. Evidence of <br />inadequate holding power will be cause for rejection of such fastenings. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 ERECTION AND BRACING <br />A. Furnish and erect rough structural wood framework, including posts, beams, rafters, studs, <br />plates, nailers, blocking, bridging, sheathing, stripping, purlins, grounds and furring. <br />B. Furnish all plant, labor, material, tackle, guys, braces, scaffolds, staying and equipment <br />necessary to erect rough carpentry components and to hold them safely in position until <br />permanent connections are completed. Permanent connections as used herein refer to all <br />hardware and include all structural work of any description and attachment thereof to the <br />surrounding walls. <br />C. Wherever stacks of material, erection equipment or other loads are carried by work during <br />construction, make provisions to take care of stresses and strains resulting. Keep temporary <br />bracing in place until permanent walls and roofs are completed; provide temporary bracing <br />sufficient to keep structure stable, plumb and in line until completed.
