FINISH CARPENTRY AND <br />MILLWORK <br />Section 06200 <br />15-1207 <br />1. Nails: Hot -dipped galvanized for all exterior work. Bright finish finishing nails for all <br />interior work. Ring shank nails for all exterior decks. Trim head drywall screws in <br />predrilled holes for interior trim attaching through gypsum wallboard into metal studs. <br />2. Bolts: Machine bolts, unless noted otherwise. <br />3. Washers: Use for all bolts or lag screws bearing on wood. Malleable iron washers <br />shall be used for all exposed work at head and nut. Malleable iron or steel washers to <br />be sized at 16 time area of bolt and not less than 1/2 bolt diameter in thickness. Cut <br />washers may be used only where specified. Washers not required under heads of <br />carriage bolts, but nuts shall have cut washers. <br />H. Miscellaneous Items: Provide all miscellaneous fasteners, brackets, supports, connectors <br />and accessory items as indicated on the Drawings or as required by the product <br />manufacturer for a complete and proper installation of the materials, products or systems <br />specified in this Section. <br />Plywood Wainscot (Interior): APAA-D, Group 1, exposure 1, smooth sanded one face, 1/2 <br />inch U.O.N. <br />J. Electrical / Signal Terminal Board: See Electrical documents. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 MILLING WORK <br />A. Mill to dimensions and profiles shown, and match existing where indicated. Except where <br />exact length can be determined, material shall be provided long for cutting and fitting in field. <br />B. "Back out" reverse side of trim when 5/8 inch or more thick or 1-5/8 inches or more wide. <br />C. Kerf unexposed side of exterior millwork where "cupping" may occur. <br />3.02 PRELIMINARY PAINT/FINISH OF MILLWORK <br />A. All surfaces, edges and ends of millwork to be painted shall be primed before shipping. <br />Unexposed surfaces to be in contact with concrete and masonry shall receive two coats of <br />primer. Primer shall be an alkyd enamel undercoat applied in accordance with <br />manufacturer's specifications. <br />B. All surfaces, edges and ends of millwork to receive stain or transparent finish shall be sealed <br />at the shop before shipping. Primer shall be an approved clear wood preservative such as <br />"Woodlife", Pentaseal" or approved equal. Preservative materials shall not prevent later field <br />application of stain or clear finish from penetrating the wood. Millwork shall be tied, shipped <br />and stored in such a manner as to avoid warping, twisting and curling. Any such warped <br />millwork may be rejected by the Architect. <br />C. All unexposed edges cut on the job shall be primed with the same primer used in the shop. <br />D. Redwood shall not be shop primed. <br />4 <br />
