Backing paper, both layers, to run continuously <br />behind control joints and reveals. Omit backing paper, second layer, at horizontal soffits. <br />B. Attachment of Backing Paper: Attach Backing Paper, First Layer, and Backing Paper, Second <br />Layer, in accordance with each manufacturer's installation guidelines, using the following <br />fasteners: <br />Plywood substrate over wood studs: <br />a. Cap Nails: Directly into studs per manufacturer's recommendations. <br />b. Cap Staples (not permitted for installation Backing Paper, Second Layer): Directly <br />into studs per manufacturer's recommendations. <br />C. Apply Flashing Membrane over Backing Paper, First Layer, where plaster accessories, <br />including but not limited to, expansion screeds and reveal screeds will be provided and not <br />secured directly to stud framing. <br />D. Tape any damaged areas (i.e., any tears, breaks, holes and other damage) of Backing Paper, <br />First Layer utilizing the specified Backing Paper Tape per manufacturer's recommendations. <br />E. Backing Paper to be covered within the time period as follows: <br />1. Backing Paper, First Layer, must be covered within 120 days (4 months) of installation. <br />2. Backing Paper, Second Layer, must be covered within 90 days (3 months) of <br />installation. <br />3.05 LATH AND PLASTER ACCESSORIES APPLICATION FOR EXTERIOR PLASTER WALLS <br />- WOOD & METAL FRAMING <br />A. General: <br />1. Install Plaster Accessories using longest possible lengths — no termination of a length of <br />section shall occur within 24 -inches of an intersecting length of section, with the <br />exception of pre -manufactured accessory joint intersections. <br />2. Install vertical joints continuously and abut horizontal joints to vertical. Terminate vertical <br />joints at horizontal reveals, flashings and horizontal surface breaks. Carefully butt end <br />joints of Plaster Accessories for accurate alignment. Provide closures at open ends of <br />reveal screeds which do not abut solid material. <br />3. Weatherproof Plaster Accessory joints by embedding in specified sealant at <br />intersections, butt -ended joints, and at terminations. <br />4. Install Plaster Accessories that ensures a true, level, and plumb plaster system surface. <br />5. Install Plaster Accessories in accordance with the required thickness (depth of grounds) <br />of cement plaster system. <br />6. Fasten, wire, tie, screw, nail or staple all accessories into studs or solid blocking <br />sufficiently to hold accessories in place during plastering. At metal stud framing, attach <br />to studs or 16 gauge minimum sheet metal backing. At concrete or masonry substrates, <br />use powder or gas activated fasteners at maximum 16" o.c. Nails and staples are not <br />allowed where boardwall insulation is provided. Attachment of the lath and accessories <br />shall be as approved or recommended by the manufacturer of the backing paper, first <br />layer, so as not to compromise its integrity or warranty. <br />B.
