CERAMIC TILE <br />Section 09300 <br />15-1207 <br />B. Expansion/control joint sealant: Provide in colors selected by the Architect. <br />1. At tile joints between floors and walls, and at perimeter of tile and metal door frames, <br />provide mildew resistant one -part silicone material. Mono 555 by Tremco Corp., 310SL <br />Silicone Sealant by Pecora, Dow Corning "786" or accepted equal. <br />2. At joints in traffic areas, exterior tile and at perimeter joints, provide two-part <br />polyurethane material with Shore A hardness of 35-45 (reference TCA EJ171). <br />Dynatred Urethane Sealant by Pecora, SL1 by Sonneborn or accepted equal. <br />2.10 SEALERS <br />A. At completion of installation and following recommended cure times, provide a low VOC, <br />water based -penetrating sealer for all grout joints and porous stone. Sealers Choice Gold as <br />manufactured by Aqua Mix, Inc., (800)366-6877, TileLab SurfaceGard Penetrating Sealer by <br />Custom Building Products, Impregnator 511 by Miracle Sealants <br />2.11 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS <br />A. Contractor is responsible for providing all additional materials and accessories required for a <br />complete installation and/or as required or recommended by the materials manufacturer's or <br />referenced standards included with this specification. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSPECTION <br />A. Prior to installation of the work of this Section, carefully inspect and verify that the installed <br />work of other trades is complete to the point where the installation may properly commence. <br />B. Examine surfaces to receive tile. <br />1. Surfaces shall be free of dust, dirt, grease, paint and other foreign matter, which would <br />affect adequate bond. <br />2. Wall surfaces shall be plumb and true, with square corners. In no case will variation of <br />flatness be more than 1/4" in 8 feet for mortar bed or % inch in 10 feet for backer board <br />be acceptable. <br />3. Concrete floor substrate shall be sufficiently rough to provide adequate mortar bond. In <br />no case will variation in levelness of substrate of more than 1/8 inch in 10 feet at thin <br />set installations nor more than 1/4 inch in 10 feet for mortar set installations be <br />acceptable. <br />C. Verify that specified items may be installed in accordance with the approved design. <br />D. In the event of discrepancy, immediately notify Architect. Do not proceed in discrepant areas <br />until discrepancies have been fully resolved. <br />E. Starting of work on any surface shall constitute unqualified acceptance of that surface as <br />being satisfactory for tile work. <br />7 <br />
