CERAMIC TILE <br />Section 09300 <br />15-1207 <br />1. Mix grout by and or with a slow -speed drill motor not exceeding 300 rpm, achieving a <br />stiff non -slumping consistency, and using the minimum amount of liquid to achieve a <br />workable mix. <br />2. Force maximum amount of grout into joints. Fill joints flush with surface of tile, not <br />concave. Fill gaps and skips. Finished grout shall be uniform in color, smooth and <br />without voids or low spots. <br />3. Sponge and wash tile thoroughly, diagonally across joints. Polish with clean, dry cloths. <br />4. Cure grout by keeping damp for at least 72 hours. Add dampness as needed. <br />3.09 CLEANING <br />A. Wash tile with sponge and clean water, as soon as grout has reached initial set. Wait until 10 <br />days after setting, then wet tile with water before cleaning with specified cleaner. Protect all <br />surrounding finishes with as recommended by cleaner manufacturer. Flush thoroughly with <br />water after cleaning. Remove protective masking and polish tile clean. <br />3.10 SEALING <br />A. Apply two coats of Sealer to all tile grout in strict accordance with manufacturer's <br />recommendations. <br />3.11 PROTECTION <br />A. Barricade and prevent foot and vehicle traffic in all tile areas during installation, curing period <br />and following installation. Cover all finished tile areas to protect against foot traffic or other <br />adjacent construction operations.
