FOOD SERVICE <br />EQUIPMENT <br />Section 11400 <br />15-1207 <br />K. Rivets, bolts and screws shall not be permitted in any exposed location. <br />L. All welding shall be of the heliarc method with welding rod of the same composition as the parts <br />welded. Welds shall be complete, strong, and ductile with excess metal ground off and joints <br />finished smooth to match adjoining surfaces. Welds shall be free of mechanical imperfections <br />and shall be continuously welded so that the fixture shall appear as one-piece construction. <br />Butt welds made by spot solder and finished by grinding are not acceptable. <br />M. All exposed joints shall be ground flush with adjoining material and finished to harmonize <br />therein. Whenever material has been sunk or depressed by welding operation, such <br />depressions shall be suitably hammered and peened flush with the adjoining surface and, if <br />necessary, again ground to eliminate low spots. In all cases, the grain of rough grinding shall <br />be removed by successive fine polishing operations. <br />N. All exposed welded joints in stainless steel construction shall be suitably coated with an <br />approved metallic -based paint. <br />O. After galvanized steel members have been welded, all welds and areas where galvanizing has <br />been damaged shall have a zinc dust coating applied. <br />P. Seams shall be continuous welds flush and ground smooth. <br />1. Field Joints: Flush welded, ground smooth and polished on the job, solder or rivets not <br />allowed. <br />2. Counter Tops: Field joints in stainless steel counter tops and drain boards butt welded <br />with welds ground flush and smooth and polished to match original finish. <br />3. Pass windows: Provide a complete all welded seamless counter from inside area to the <br />outside ledge at each pass window location. Mechanical joints, butt joints or lap joints <br />will not be accepted. <br />2.4 ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Standard UL listed materials, devices and components shall be selected and installed in <br />accordance with NEMA Standards and recommendations and as required for safe and efficient <br />use and operation of the Food Service Equipment without objectionable noise, vibration, and <br />sanitation problems. <br />B. Motors up to and including '/z HP are to be wired for 120 volt, single phase. Fixtures totaling <br />more than 1000 watts are to be wired for 208 volt, single phase. Fixtures having multiple <br />number of heating elements, can be wired for three phase with the load balanced as equally as <br />possible within the fixture. <br />C. Heating elements having a connected load of up to and including 1000 wafts are to be wired for <br />120 volt, single phase. Fixtures totaling more then 1000 watts are to be wired for 208 volt, <br />single phase. Fixtures having multiple number of heating elements can be wired for three <br />phase with the load balanced as equally as possible within the fixture. <br />D. Equipment where applicable shall be furnished with three -wire cord and plug. <br />10 <br />
