PREFINISHED PLASTIC LAMINATE CASEWORK Section 12304 15-1207 colors for different rooms (maximum 6 colors). Doors and frames may be different selections. 1. Exposed Vertical Surfaces, including exposed cabinet interiors: 0.028 -inch thick, high- pressure laminate (HPL) conforming to or exceeding NEMA Standard LD 3. Wilsonart Type 335, Formica Grade 20 or approved equal. 2. Exposed Horizontal Surfaces (countertops / cabinet interiors): 0.039 -inch thick, postforming type, high-pressure laminate (HPL), or 0.050 -inch thick, high-pressure laminate for standard countertops conforming to or exceeding NEMA Standard LD 3. Wilsonart Type 350HW or Type 107HW and Formica Grade 12 or Grade 51, respectively or approved equal. 3. Cabinet Liner: 0.020 -inch thick, high pressure laminate (HPL), conforming to or exceeding NEMA Standard LD 3. Wilsonart Type 101, Formica Grade 72 or approved equal. Provide in white. 4. Melamine: Low pressure, thermally fused, resin coated craft paper bonded to particleboard core. Provide in white. 5. Backing Sheet: 0.020 -inch thick, high pressure laminate (HPL), conforming to or exceeding NEMA Standard LD 3. Wilsonart Type 202, Formica Grade 91 or approved equal. B. Edge Bandings: 1. 3 -mm thick PVC: Solid, high impact, purified, color-thru, acid resistant, pre -laminated primed edging, machine -applied with hot melt adhesives, automatically trimmed, inside/outside length-radiused for uniform appearance, buffed and corner-radiused for consistent design. a. Provide 3 -mm edge banding at door and drawer face edge, and exposed shelf edge. 2. 0.02 -inch thick PVC: Flat Edge, solid, high impact, purified, color-thru, acid resistant PVC, edging machine -applied with hot melt adhesives, automatically trimmed face, back and corners for uniform appearance. a. Provide 0.02 -inch thick edge banding at drawer body edge (not drawer face) and cabinet body edge (including door and drawer front spacer rail). Provide also at interior body component edging, interior dividers and interior shelving. Color shall match cabinet interior surface color. C. Countertops and Splashes (over base cabinets): Exposed horizontal surfaces, high-pressure laminate bonded to 3/4 -inch thick particleboard core. Provide Backing Sheet on opposite surface. Adhesive shall be type 2, water-resistant. Provide no -drip rollform edge at sink units and adjacent continuous cabinets, including cabinets, which wrap around corners. Provide 6 -inch tall, coved back splash at sink units and adjacent continuous cabinets, including cabinets, which wrap around corners, and at locations shown. Provide rollform 180 -degree edge at all other countertop locations. Provide vertical coved corners at inside corners. Top of splashes shall be square with self -edge and scribe strips. 1. Countertops (open below w/ supports at 36 -inches max. located to provide accessible clearance and locations indicated on plans): Exposed horizontal surfaces, high- pressure laminate bonded to 3/4 -inch thick particleboard core. Provide Backing Sheet on opposite surface. Adhesive shall be type 2, water-resistant. D. Semi -exposed Surfaces: Melamine bonded to particleboard core. Use for all semi -exposed surfaces, tops and bottoms of wall -hung and tall cabinets (except as described in article 1.03 5
