Samples were transferred to Eurofins Calscience (Eurofins). The results are included in Table 2 and the laboratory reports are included in Attachment B. Based on the Site walk observations and unconfirmed contents of the drums, American Integrated Services, Inc. (AIS) (CSL #757133-HAZ) was subcontracted to place the two drums in plastic overpacks and dispose of them in accordance with applicable regulations. AIS placed the overpacks on the drums on 7 October 2019 and removed them from the Site on 26 November 2019. The waste manifest documenting disposal of these drums at the Crosby and Overton, Inc. facility in Long Beach, California is included in Attachment C. Soil Excavation Soil samples indicated the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in shallow soil around the former drum locations at levels higher than the US EPA RSLs for medium and high -range petroleum compounds (see Table 2 for carbon range). The impacted soil was removed as described below. Figure 2 shows the footprint of the excavation based on the pre -excavation sampling activities described above. North State Earth and Water, Inc. (North State; CSL #882240-HAZ) was subcontracted to excavate a pit approximately 8 feet by 5 feet in plan, to a depth of approximately 1 foot in the southern half and 2 feet in the northern half. Upon completion of the excavation activities, Kennedy Jenks observed that soil at the base and sidewalls of the excavation was unstained and had no odor. North State backfilled the pit with locally -obtained aggregate base material and compacted it using the tracks of their loader. Excavated soil and the oily, broken sheet of plywood was placed on plastic sheeting and covered with plastic pending profiling and disposal. The dimensions of the pit were determined based on the pre -excavation sample results; therefore, no additional samples were collected from the pit. North State collected a sample from the stockpile for profiling purposes. North State received approval from the Waste Management Altamont Landfill and notified Kennedy Jenks on 20 December 2019 that they would load and transport the soil. Kennedy Jenks met North State onsite and confirmed the soil was loaded and the Site was restored. Refer to Attachment A for a photographic record of the excavation activity.
