When sufficient quantities of plastio have been
received , the plastio will be baled.
Paper Paper and newspape r will be sorted out and stored in metal storage bins on the north
s ide of the RRF bui lding.
Glass California redemp t ion glass wi ll be stored in sma ll cardboard or wooden containers of
various s izes obtained from the sorting process , segregated by solor (brown, green, and clear)
on the south side of the RRF building.
MetalsAIl ferrous metals and aluminum containing iron will be separated out and stored on
the north side of the RRF bu ild ing in drop boxes for transport to a metals processing fac il ity.
Other nonferrous meta ls will be stored in clean 50 gallon steel or ca rdboard drums. Aluminum
wi ll be separated out and stored in locl~able, reusable 72" x 42" x 42 " bins.
Recyclable Materials Transfer Operations
At this time. the station area is only being used to transfer mixed recyclable material. During
recyclables transfer operations, no separation or sorting of recyclables is performed. The
route trucks hauling the mixed recyclables unload inside the RRF transfer building and then
the materials are loaded onto large transfer trucks for hauling to a permitted recycler.
3.1.5.2 Storage of Salvaged or Recycled Materials
Storage of salvaged or recycled materials is performed in accordance with 14 CCR, Section
17409.3(d). There is no long-term storage of recyclable materials at the RRF. During the
recyclables transfer operation, no materials will be stored onsite. The materials will be
loaded onto large transfer trucks and hauled generally the same day to a permitted recycler.
When the resyo lables sorting operation is ongo i ng , the segregated materials are categorized
and processed accord ing to the most econom ica l secondary marl~et value. The other
recyclables (cardboard, all grades of pape r, etc .) are separated and temporari ly stored on site
until sold at marl'tet.
Wood waste, lumber, and/or brush are placed initially in the wood waste stockpile/sorting area
when the material is manuall y screened for residual waste. The material is then moved to the
grinding area. located directly ad jacent to the sorting area. The material is then, ground and
processed in the wood grinderchipper. The wood stockpile area is confined to a 100 foot by
±W40-foot area . 12 feet high as specified by the local fire agency. The stock piles must be
kept a minimum of 100 feet from the transfer building.
3.1.5.3 Materials Processing and Volume Reduction
Forward Resource Recovery Facility SWT Engineering
Transfer/Processing Report -May 2014
z:\projects \alli ed waste \forward\resource recovery facility\5 yr permit rvw 2013·14\tpr 2014\text\rev track\sec3-rev tr.doc
