Auto Travel - Compared with more centrally
located new subdivisions, the proposed sub-
division will add about two miles to a trip
to the nearest urban center. Assuming a
fuel consumption rate of 20 miles per gallon
about 15 or more gallons of gasoline per
round trip for the entire subdivision would
be consumed compared to a more central location.
9. Impact on community Facilities and Services :
The project will increase the responsibilities
of the Waterloo-Morada Fire District to pro-
vide, fire protection; of the Lodi Unified
School District to provide elementary and high
school education; of the County Department
of Public Works to provide street mainte-
nance and of the County Sheriff-Coroners
Office to provide police protection.
a. Fire Protection
The project will turn a large agri-
cultural parcel with only a few structures,
requiring little fire protection, into
a 13 lot residential area.
The RR-65 zone provides for large side
yard setbacks which will help prevent.
fire from spreading from one structure
to another. On the other hand under
the current proposal, no fire hydrants
would be provided. This will increase
the problems if a fire should break out.
Fire fighters will have to use tanker
trucks to obtain water to control any
fire.
b. Schools
The proposed subdivision will generate
additional school pupils who must be
educated by the Lodi School District.
The district will have to provide class-
rooms, support facilities staff and
operating capital to accommodate these
pupils.
-16-
