WESTERN PUMP
Petroleum & Lubrication Equipment Specialists
Random
You are subject to unannounced random drug and alcohol testing . Alcohol testing is administered just
prior to , during or just after performing safety-sensitive functions. No manager, supervisor, official or
agent may select you for testing because they want to . Under DOT regulations, employers must use a
truly random selection process . Each employee must have an equal chance to be selected and
tested .
Just prior to the testing even , you will be notified of your selection and provided enough time to stop
performing your safety sensitive function and report to the testing location . Failure to show for a test or
interfering with the testing process can be considered a refusal .
For post-accident screening , breath screening for ethyl alcohol will also be conducted in addition to
the collection of a urine sample.
Post Accident
In the event of a work-related accident, the employer shall promptly determine if the accident involved
$500 or more in property damage or an injury which required medical treatment which could not be
handled at the accident scene . Any employee who meets these criteria must be screened for drugs
and alcohol . Alcohol screening should be completed within two (2) hours of the accident if at all
possible . Drug screening must be completed within 24 hours of the
accident.
If the breath-alcohol screen is not administered within eight (8) hours following the accident, the
employer will cease all attempts to conduct the screen and shall prepare and retain on file written
documentation indicating why the screen could not be conducted . The saliva or urine collection for
drugs , however, must proceed under any circumstances.
3235 " F" Street, San Diego, CA 92102-3315 * 619-239-9988 * Fax 619-239-9925
www.westernpump . com
California Contractor's License #673853
California Certified Small Business #33547
