Soil Suitability / Nitrate Loading Study
Cherokee Memorial Park Vineyard Chapel Addition ■ Lodi, California
March 5, 2021 ■ Terracon Project No. NA207102
Responsive ■Resourceful ■Reliable 4
the break room, janitorial and flower prep needs. Septic system design should be
based on the San Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater Disposal Standards or other
engineering recommendations.” The 2015 SSS indicated a groundwater sample
collected from the onsite well was analyzed for Nitrate as Nitrogen (N) and
Dibromochloropropane (DBCP). Nitrate as N was reported at 0.12 milligrams per liter
(mg/L) and DBCP was reported below laboratory reporting limits. The 2015 SSS
additionally indicated, two shallow percolation test borings were advanced in the area
of the primary (P1) and secondary (P2) leach fields, at approximately three feet below
grade surface. Soils consisted of brown fine silty sand. Both soil percolation tests P1
and P2, demonstrated satisfactory percolation rates of 15.63 and 20.83 minutes per
inch respectively. The report indicated a prior geotechnical investigation (Project
Number NA145054) did not identify groundwater in borings advanced to 16.5 feet bgs.
n Neil O. Anderson & Associates, a Terracon Company, Nitrate Loading Study (NLS),
Cherokee Memorial Park Chapel, 14165 North Beckman Road, Lodi, California dated
January 14, 2015 (Project Number NA145063). The 2015 NLS was prepared for a
13.25-acre parcel APN 061-030-47 and the Vineyard Chapel development and future
development. The following information was obtained from the report, soil
denitrification factor (20%), rainfall volume (5.16 inches/year), rainfall nitrate
concentration (1.0 mg/L-N), waste effluent quantity (employee/13 gallons per day[gpd]
and visitor/5 gpd), waste effluent nitrate concentration (85 mg/L-N), average daily flow
(1,614 gpd and 2,337 gpd). Nitrate loading results were reported at 17.1 mg/L-N and
22.1 mg/L-N above the maximum drinking water contaminant level (MCL) of 10 mg/L.
n Neil O. Anderson & Associates, a Terracon Company, Engineered Septic System
(ESS), Cherokee Memorial Park Chapel, 14165 North Beckman Road, Lodi, California
dated August 17, 2015 (Project Number NA157002G). Based on a review of the report,
with the approval of the EHD, the waste effluent quantity for a visitor was reduced from
5 gpd to 2 gpd. The average daily flow for the Vineyard Chapel was revised to 669
gpd. The nitrate loading calculation was revised to 7.2 mg/L-N, below the MCL of 10
mg/L.
1.1.1 Site Description
The site consists of an approximately 51.18-acre tract of land located at 13951 North Beckman
Road, Lodi, California, San Joaquin County, California, Assessor Parcel Number (APN) 061-030-
71.Based on client interviews and a review of the historical information, the site is a cemetery
established in 1940 and is improved with approximately ten buildings, seven septic systems, one
domestic groundwater well, two irrigation wells, utilities, landscaped gardens, mausoleums and
monuments. The following table includes a list of the reported buildings and septic systems
currently located on the site.
