The following is an itemized list of hazardous waste violations that have not been <br /> addressed for SPEEDEE OIL CHANGE & TUNE-UP-MTCA as of May 27, 2022. <br /> Open violations from December 10, 2021 inspection <br /> Violation#301 -Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. <br /> OBSERVATION: Failed to minimize release of a hazardous waste. The facility decided in 2011 to dispose of metal <br /> fines,from brake rotor smoothing, as hazardous waste. We observed metals fines stored on top of the brake rotor <br /> machine instead of in the storage bucket. <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE:A hazardous waste generator must maintain and operate its facility to minimize the <br /> possibility of a fire, explosion, or any unplanned sudden or non-sudden release of hazardous waste or hazardous <br /> waste constituents to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately conserve metal fines in storage containers or buckets. Manage the waste <br /> according to Title 22 California Code of Regulations for hazardous waste. Submit a statement and supporting <br /> documentation to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department describing the storage and final <br /> disposition of the cleaned up waste. <br /> ❑ This violation was corrected ❑This violation will be corrected by(date): <br /> ❑ Supporting documents included <br /> Describe actions taken or will be taken to correct violation: <br /> Violation#403-Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing <br /> hazardous waste. <br /> OBSERVATION: Failed to keep hazardous containers closed. One 55 gallon drum of paper oil filters in the <br /> dumpster area was not close securely with the metal ring and bolt. One 5 gallon container of metal fines next to the <br /> brake rotor machine was not closed. <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE:A container holding hazardous waste shall always be closed during transfer and <br /> storage, except when it is necessary to add or remove waste. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately close these containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed <br /> when not adding or removing waste. Provide a corrective action statement and supporting documentation to the <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department within 30 days. <br /> ❑ This violation was corrected ❑This violation will be corrected by(date): <br /> ❑ Supporting documents included <br /> Describe actions taken or will be taken to correct violation: <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br />
