MERENE <br />This letter is in response to your correspondence dated October 29, 1998, and is a <br />follow-up from the meeting which occurred on October 6, 1998, concerning the above <br />referenced property which is owned by Cal State Mortgage. <br />The conclusion of the October 6, 1998 meeting was that Cal State Mortgage would <br />remove all surface solid waste from their property. All above ground solid waste must be <br />removed and transported to a permitted solid waste facility. Prior to any clean-up activities <br />occurring, Environmental Health Division must be notified of the licensed contractor's name <br />and the destination of all removed waste. In addition, if any removal of waste is necessary <br />along the Santa Fe Railroad's right of way, please notify and coordinate removal with Santa <br />Fe Railroad. <br />It was unclear at the time of the October 691998 meeting whether there has been any <br />recent (since the closure of the Snyder dump in the 1970's) subsurface solid waste disposal <br />on Cal State Mortgage's property. At the meeting, it was indicated that following further site <br />investigation the status of the subsurface solid waste would be addressed. If recent <br />subsurface waste is identified, a work plan, and additional requirements would be imposed. <br />It was also discussed that the neighboring property owned by the late Mr. Lane is subject to <br />
