COUNTY
OF
,00Placer
HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTII
October 5, 2018
Eljen Corporation
Eric Daniels
125 McKee Street
East Hartford, CT 06108
Dear Eric Daniels,
Re: Eljen Supplemental Treatment Technology Approval for Use in Placer County
Environmental Health has reviewed your application to use the Eljen Geotextile Sand
Filter trench system as a Supplemental Treatment System option for on-site wastewater
treatment systems (OWTS) in Placer County. Based on our review, the Eljen Geotextile
Sand Filter trench system meets the applicable sections of Placer County's Local
Agency Management Plan (LAMP) and Wastewater Regulations, and is therefore
approved for use. Please see below for specific approval criteria:
SCOPE OF APPROVAL
1. Eljen Geotextile Sand Filter (GSF) trench system will be allowed on lots with
demonstrated effective soil depths of 24-inches beneath the specified sand.
2. Eljen GSF system can be approved for residential sewage treatment where:
a. Initial installation and repair area meets standards for standard or
alternative technology, or
b. Repair in cases of system failure where repair does not meet ordinance
(beds or mounds may be considered)
3. Future expansion of residences or addition of residences utilizing Eljen GSF
system will not be approved if the increased design flow resulting from the
expansion exceeds the design capacity of the treatment system.
4. The installation and replacement areas will be maintained free of corrals, vehicular
traffic and other uses that could damage the structure and integrity of the surface
soil and/or the Eljen GSF system.
Environmental Health ■ 3091 County Center Drive,Suite 180■ Auburn, CA 95603
(530) 745-2300 Office ■ (530) 745-2370 fax ■ environmentalhealth@placer.ca.gov
Vin ® f
