Actions to cool stream or minimize flow and/or formation of vapors must be taken. <br /> In cases where some vapors are unavoidable, a pneumatic or explosion-proof fan <br /> will be used to blow the fumes from employees when draining a system. <br /> 7. No unauthorized persons will be allowed in the work area while work is being <br /> performed. The work area should be identified by red "Danger" tape or other <br /> clearly marked barricade to prevent anyone from entering the hazardous work area. <br /> M. HAZARDOUS WORK PERMITTING PROCESS <br /> The permitting process provides the procedure for preparing and issuing permits and for returning <br /> the permit area to service following completion of the work. The process shall be used to confirm <br /> that all provisions outlined in the hazardous work program are followed. <br /> A. The hazardous work permitting process shall ensure that: <br /> 1. Before the work begins; the authorizer shall ensure a risk assessment is completed <br /> based on severity of hazards and number of people exposed, and prioritize <br /> hazardous work permit needs based on that assessment. <br /> 2. A written JSA or standard operating procedure shall be prepared for future work if <br /> the task is routine or non-routine and one isn't available. <br /> 3. Before the work begins; communicate/train all those participating in the assigned <br /> task and train regarding the work to be done, the hazards involved, and the <br /> necessary preparation and precautions necessary for the job task. <br /> 4. Before the work begins; the permit shall be completed, all actions taken as <br /> identified and all participants and authorization signatures as required. <br /> 5. The duration of the permit shall not exceed the time required to complete the <br /> assigned work identified on the permit or the work day of the worker(s), whichever <br /> is shorter. <br /> 6. Before work is authorized, the company shall document the completion of <br /> measures required by preparing a hazardous work permit form. <br /> 7. Before work begins, the work supervisor identified on the permit shall sign the <br /> permit to authorize work. <br /> 8. The work supervisor terminates hazardous work and cancels the work permit <br /> when: <br /> a. The work operations covered by the work permit have been completed; or <br />
