Sign the permit at the iob site, signifying all necessary permit conditions are met and all <br /> safeguards are in place, including proper completion of the permit. <br /> F. Close out all hazardous work permits after assuring that all equipment is returned to a safe <br /> condition. <br /> VIII. PROCEDURES FOR OUTSIDE CONTRACT PERSONNEL <br /> A. The same hazardous work permit,procedure,and authorization is required for hazardous <br /> permit work being performed by outside contractors and their personnel. Contractors <br /> responsible for completing hazardous work activities must have received appropriate <br /> orientation and site-specific training prior to commencing any physical hazardous work <br /> activities. <br /> B. When the company has a contractor perform permit work the company shall: <br /> I. Inform the contractor that the company's permit form, procedure, and <br /> authorizations are required for permit work being performed by the contractor. <br /> Involve the contractor in the planning for all permits that involve level 2 and level <br /> 3 hazards. <br /> 2. Explain the element to the contractors, including the hazards identified and the <br /> company's experience with the work,that makes the work in question permit work. <br /> 3. Explain to the contractor of any precautions or procedures that the company has <br /> implemented for protection of employees in or near permit work areas. <br /> 4. Coordinate work operations with the contractor when: <br /> a. Company employees will be working near permit areas being worked by <br /> contractor personnel. <br /> b. Contractor personnel will be working near permit areas being worked by <br /> company employees. <br /> 5. Refer to company's policy on contractors' safety. <br /> 6. Debrief the contractor at the conclusion of the permit work regarding the <br /> hazardous work program followed and regarding any hazards confronted or <br /> created in permit areas during permit operations. <br /> B. The contract employee's supervisor will also sign the permit and will be responsible for all <br /> the same responsibilities as the work supervisor. The work supervisor will be the GAF/Elk <br /> employee who is responsible for the contractor's presence. <br />
