No waste (with the exception of specified materials <br />identified in this variance) may be bulked, mixed or <br />commingled. <br />8. All wastes will be properly sorted by Burlington <br />Environmental to ensure compatibility of waste collected. <br />Labpacked wastes will be kept in original containers and <br />subsequently packaged into DOT specified packages with <br />appropriate absorbent. <br />9. Motor oil, latex paint and antifreeze may be bulked during <br />the collection event if done within a secured area away <br />from the receiving area. The bulking of solvents, oil-based <br />paints or gasoline, shall not occur during hours when wastes <br />are being accepted at the collection facility; and the <br />bulking of solvents, oil-based paints or gasoline shall be <br />conducted in compliance with a written protocol approved by <br />local fire and air pollution prevention agency jurisdictions <br />in which the collection facility is located. <br />10. Batteries will be shipped to a Department -approved permitted <br />battery recycler. <br />11. Spilled and leaked waste shall be collected immediately to <br />prevent spreading the waste. <br />12. Receiving, handling, and waste storage areas (excluding <br />vehicle traffic lane(s) shall have a continuous asphalt or <br />concrete base for the receiving, handling and storage of <br />HHW. The continuous base shall be designed in accordance <br />with Section 66264.175 (b)(1), CCR, Title 22 or shall be <br />covered with contiguous plastic sheeting of at least 6 mil <br />thickness. Any torn or punctured plastic must be repaired <br />replaced immediately. <br />13. Waste handling areas designated for sorting, bulking and <br />packaging shall have a canopy or other roof structure, when <br />necessary, to prevent exposure to excessive heat or <br />precipitation. <br />14. Biohazardous waste will not be accepted at the collection <br />site. <br />15. Radioactive waste shall not be accepted at the collection <br />site(with the exception of smoke detectors). <br />or <br />
