case basis. Check with the Site Supervisor in ALL cases. <br />6. Sorting Personnel <br />The sorting area will be staffed by four or more people (as needed). The sorters <br />are responsible for the initial sorting of all waste off the carts. They will sort <br />the waste into the following categories with designated reception areas under <br />the tent: <br />1. Labpack - this consists of all pesticides, herbicides, cleaners, acids, <br />bases and unknowns <br />?. Latex Paint - This consists of all clearly labeled latex paint <br />3. Motor oil - This consists of all uncontaminated motor oil <br />-l. Antifreeze - This consists of all uncontaminated antifreeze <br />5. Aerosols - This consists of all flammable, corrosive and poisonous <br />aerosols as well as any compressed gas cylinders <br />6. Flammables - This consists of all oil base paint, thinners,,s_lvents, <br />and adhesives. <br />All unlabeled, unknown or questionable materials will be sent lo, the Labpack <br />area. <br />A Philip Environmental staff member will be in charge of the sorting area. It is <br />hisiher responsibility to ensure that all staff members have been properly trained <br />in .sorting, the area has enough staff, and that sorting is being performed properly. <br />7. Paint Processing Personnel <br />The paint processing and packing area will be staffed by one or more <br />people (as needed). This area is split into two sections: latex paint, and oil- <br />based paint/solvent. <br />Latex Paint area: <br />All clearly labeled LATEX paint will be sorted out of the general waste <br />stream and delivered to the latex processing area. The personnel there will be <br />opening and inspecting all containers of LATEX paint prior to processing. <br />Any containers that do not appear to contain LATEX or are not clearly labeled <br />will be returned to the oil base paint packaging area. The personnel will bulk <br />all non -recyclable latex paint into 55 gallon open head drums. All potentially <br />recyclable latex paint will be loosepacked into 55 gallon open head drums and <br />plastic tub skids for shipment back to Philip Environmental's facility where it <br />will be sorted and bulked for recycling. <br />Oil-based Paint/Solvent area: <br />In this area flammable and combustible paints, paint -related material <br />and solvents are packaged. During the hours of operation, individual <br />containers of these materials will be packaged into tubskids or 55 gallon <br />drums. <br />When loading paints and solvents into drums watch for: <br />a) paints that contain isocyanates <br />b) wood treat containing pentachlorophenol <br />[I -7 <br />
