The height, size, and number of the pfoposed signs are the minimum required to identify and
direct the public to the activities, services, and products available on the site.
The Community Development Department has determined that one tall pole sign is consistent with the
above findings. However, two signs would be inconsistent with Finding No. 3. The applicant is in
agreement with the proposed condition that only one pole sign be permitted.
Flag City's Comprehensive Sign Plan
The comprehensive sign plan for the 50-acre Flag City development provides for two pole signs, 75 and
90 feet high. The 75-foot-high sign, which has not been installed, has two faces of 864 square feet each.
The 90-foot-high sign, which has been installed, has two faces of approximately 1200 square feet each.
Other pole signs are prohibited. The display of business logos on multiple walls is permitted.
Because this site is approximately half the size of the Flag City development, it is recommended that only
one tall sign be permitted. However, because this site is farther from the freeway, it is also recommended
that the sign be permitted to be taller.
San Joaquin County PP-96-1/Halloum
Community Development -14-
