2.2 K-8 SCHOOL <br /> The K-8 school is the largest land use within the Neighborhood Center. The school occupies a 16- <br /> acre site in a central location within the neighborhood. The School is planned for a maximum <br /> enrollment of 900 students with either a traditional or single-track year-round calendar. The <br /> design is intended to facilitate community use of facilities during non-school hours. <br /> 2.2.1 Phasing <br /> a) The School is anticipated to be built in a single phase with construction anai;pated-to__ <br /> start in early 1999 with the earliest move-in occurring in late 1999 or early 2000. <br /> 2.2.2 Parking <br /> a) Off street parking will provide sufficient capacity for typical daily use of the <br /> maximum 900 student K-8 enrollment and for the on-site,child care center. <br /> b) The site plan shall include an onsite parking lot for staff and visitors,located adjacent <br /> to the site reserved for a child care center. <br /> c) Additional on street parking will be provided along both sides of the three streets <br /> bordering the school and park. <br /> 2.2.3 Vehicular Circulation <br /> On site circulation is planned to include: <br /> a) A one way entrance and exit to the parking lot affording supervision from the <br /> administration building. <br /> b) A school bus tumout/drop-off on the adjacent collector street west of the parking lot. <br /> C) Paved emergency access available from three other street entrances equipped Nvith <br /> removable,lockable bollards. <br /> 2.2.4 Pedestrian and Bicycle Circulation <br /> a) Pedestrian access shall be from a continuous network of sidewalks along all streets. <br /> Bicycle access shall be from a network of Class I,paths alone arterial streets, and <br /> Class III bike routes alone collector streets within the neighborhood. <br /> b) A sidewalk and adjoining jogging path shall be located around the perimeter of the <br /> school and park site,near the street. <br /> 2.2.5 Joint Use <br /> The School District and the Community Services District(CSD)have adopted a Joint Use <br /> Agreement which specifies how design,construction,use,and maintenance of adjacent <br /> school and park facilities will be coordinated.The agreement contains the following <br /> provisions: <br /> a) the site will have shared use of an adjacent 2.4 acres of CSD owned neighborhood <br /> parkland with coordinated design,landscaping and access,which will be made <br /> available for school use on a priority basis during school hours.The remainder of the <br /> park area will be available to the public at all times during the day. <br />
