Install the valve in separate bypass piping and connect the
plastic tubing as shown in Fig. 7.
LOADING THE TANK
1. Position the tank so that the fillport is in the front or the
rear. NOTICE: For PV -A units with an Aqua -Sensor®
sensing device, the fillport must be in the rear.
2. Slip a Tetraseal gasket, obtained from the small parts
package, up the long outlet manifold until it seats below
the manifold collar (Fig. 8).
3. Install the outlet manifold into the LEFT (outlet) flange
port (Fig. 8).
A CAUTION: DO NOT install the outlet manifold
into the right flange port. Media will be flushed to
service.
4. Slip the other Tetraseal gasket up the short, wide -slot
inlet manifold until it seats below the manifold collar,
then install the inlet manifold in the RIGHT (inlet) flange
port.
5. Cover the tops of the manifolds with a clean rag.
6. Using a large -mouth funnel, load the coarse sand
underbedding through the fillport.
A CAUTION: DO NOT allow the outlet manifold to
move when loading the media. The manifold must
remain vertical to ensure a good seal at the gasket.
Rap the tank near the bottom with a rubber mallet to level
the sand.
7. Aqua -Sensor sensing device units only -
A. Measure the sensor cable length as shown in Fig. 9
A CAUTION: The sensor has a plastic protective
cover which should not be removed until the
FILL PORT ` . Avoid touching the
carbon rings since oil and dirt can affect the
sensitivity of the sensor. The sensor may be
cleaned by wiping it with a moistened paper towel
which has been sprinkled with household cleaner -
rinse thoroughly.
B. Moisten the cable sheath and slide the cable grip
up or down to the proper cable length.
C. Tighten the compression nut so that the fitting
cannot slide along the cable.
D. Locate the 1.25" NPTE x 0.5" NPTI PVC bushing
(packed with the manifolds). Insert the probe and cable
through the bushing.
E. Wrap the threads of the compression fitting with Teflon
tape, then screw the fitting into the bushing.
F. Remove the large -mouth funnel. Insert the probe and
cable through the fillport. NOTICE: There must be no
kinks or bends in the cable. Protect the cable sheath
from being cut by the fillport threads, then reinsert the
funnel.
8. Load the tank with the Cullex® ion exchange resin.
Leveling is not required. Remove the funnel.
9. Wrap the threads of the PVC reducing bushing with
Teflon tape and screw the bushing into the fillport.
10. Timeclock units only -
Wrap the threads of the 0.5" PVC plug (packed with the
manifolds) with Teflon tape and screw the plug into the
bushing.
FIG. 9
HI-FLO® 2 SENSOR
CABLE SETTING
PV -45
36in (.91 m)
SEE PV -60
35in (.89m)
CHART PV -90
47in (1.2m)
PV -120
59in (1.5m)
PV -135
59in (1.5m)
FIG. 9
