Phelan Development Holly Master Plan - Buildings H & 1 15188.000.006 Geotechnical Exploration 1.3 PROJECT DESCRIPTION Based on our discussion with you and review of the information provided, we understand that site improvements for Buildings H and I will consist of: 1. Earthwork consisting primarily of minor cuts and fills to achieve design grades. 2. Two warehouse structures totaling approximately 198,200 square feet. 3. Paved streets, parking, and drive lanes. 4. Utilities and other infrastructure improvements. 5. Concrete flatwork. Structural loads are yet to be determined; however, we assume that structural loads and maximum allowable differential settlements will be representative for this type of construction. 1.4 SITE BACKGROUND The proposed project is located within an area that was once used as a beet sugar refinery. Aerial photographs of the site dating back to 1937 were reviewed. Relevant aerial imagery is provided in Exhibits 1.4-1 and 1.4-2 below. Amin Aerial photographs from 1937 and 1957 depict a basin in the southeastern portion of the site, with lateral extents varying between the years; depth of either pond orientation cannot be determined from the photographs. Aerial photographs from 1982 show the previous pond area filled in and approximately level with the surface conditions of the rest of the project site. Exhibits 1 and 2 present the aerial photographs depicting the pond conditions from 1937 and 1957, relative to the proposed building locations on the project site. 2.0 FINDINGS 2.1 FIELD EXPLORATION Our field exploration included drilling 2 borings, advancing 8 cone penetration test (CPT) soundings, and excavating 11 test pits at various locations across the site.
