PROJECT INFORMATION (continued) <br /> FUNCTION: This facility will demonstrate that a practical <br /> alternative to land disposal of extremely <br /> hazardous wastes , is safe and economically <br /> viable. <br /> PROCESS : 1) Cyanide waste liquids will be detoxified <br /> using oxidation-reduction. <br /> 2) Metals will be recovered and removed by <br /> electrowinning and precipitation. <br /> 3) Acids and alkaline wastes will be <br /> neutralized. <br /> 4) Resource recovery waste treatment residuals <br /> will be subjected to volume reduction by <br /> solar evaporation and landfarming techniques . <br /> ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION PERIOD: AUGUST 1982 - MARCH 1983 <br /> -4- <br />
