OPERATIONS
1) Selected hazardous waste streams from metal_ finishers ,
electroplaters , electronics firms , printed circuit
board manufacturers , and other chemical manufacturing
companies , will be transported to the treatment
facility by licensed hazardous waste handlers for
processing. Valuable metals such as gold, silver ,
copper and nickel, will be recovered from the waste
stream and the effluents will be detoxified. Waste
residuals will be transferred to the solar evaporation
pond and landfarm areas .
2) A laboratory and qualified site operators will analyze
waste streams prior to treatment, resource recovery, and
waste residual management to ensure compliance with
Department of Health Sciences regulations and Regional
Water Quality Board discharge requirements.
3) Drilling Muds and aqueous mobile ion containing sludges ,
will be stabilized prior to landfarming to prevent
migration and formation of toxic leachates .
4) Future development plans include treatment of wastewater
contaminated with trace levels (X% ) of hydrocarbons ,
with activated carbon adsorption, to produce a nontoxic
effluent, suitable for landfarming.
5) There will be no measurable air emissions resulting from
any of the treatment processes or waste residual
management activities at this site.
-5-
