A thorough inspection of the entire perimeter fence at the subject
site was conducted on this date and any portion of the fence which
was in a damaged condition was scheduled for immediate repair.
This involved the 4-foot high, 4-strand barbed wire fence on the
north, west and south side of the disposal site. As noted in our
conversation, the east side of the site contains a protective
_ screening berm with a height of approximately 40 feet above original
grade. We are still unclear as to whether the 4-foot barbed wire
fence is required on this eastern boundary in addition to the
40-foot high embankment. In our opinion, the existing berm provides
more security than a 4-foot barbed wire fence. Please notify us
of your decision as to the fencing requirements on the east site
boundary and the required work will be scheduled.
2. As noted in our previous corrections plan, the required signs are
being prepared for the perimeter areas of the site. One sign will
be placed on the east, west, north and south site boundaries. One
additional sign with the required information has already been posted
at the site entrance area. To our knowledge, there are no trails,
major. drainage courses, ridges, etc. , leading to the site which
would require additional signing. The February 16 deadline date is
already upon us and the signs will not be completed in time to be
posted by February 16, 1983. The signs will be posted however, as
soon as they come from the sign painter.
1365 Vander Way • San Jose, California 95112 • (408) 295-7483
