MR. BOB FUJII
May 2, 1983
Page Three
a new Group 2 solid waste disposal trench in
the position currently occupied by the ponds.
Construction on .the new solid waste disposal
trench cannot commence until we have success-
fully eliminated the water which is currently
in the ponds . At this point in time it is impossible
to estimate how long it will take to evaporate
these fluid wastes and during this period we do
not anticipate accepting gas well brines or -
drilling muds for disposal.
4. As soon as disposal Trench #4 is completed, the
excavation contractor and his equipment will be
returned on-site and he will move immediately
toward regrading .and completing the final cover
over all completed Group I disposal trenches. At
the same time, we intend to complete construction
of a new surface water drainage system for both
the Group I and Group II disposal areas and the.
relocation of the primary access road from the
entrance gate to Trench #4 and to the solid waste.
disposal area. Weather permitting, we anticipate
compaction, grading and drainage work to require
5 to 6 working days, which will commence immediately
upon completion of work in disposal Trench #4.
5. See discussion under number 4 above.
6. As soon. as capacity in Trench #4 is available,
the drilling mud wastes from Pond #3 , #4 and
from the embankment enclosure as well as the
Group II disposal area will be removed to the
trench. With current weather conditions .it is
difficult to estimate when this task can be
completed, however, we feel that final disposal
of the subject drilling muds cannot be accomplished
before August 31, 1983. This will permit a
period for drying of the evaporation ponds.
7. We have discussed the contents of this item above
in our discussion relating to completion of work
in #4 . At present we find no instance in which
overflow of containment structures is imminent
or even possible.
8. See the discussion under #4 above. Regrading
of cover on Group II disposal areas will be done
