VALLEY WOOD PRESERVING WASTE
This waste consists of contaminated soil obtained from the Valley Wood
Preserving Company, Inc. at Turlock, California. Apparently, the
contaminated soil contains minor concentrations of Arsenic, Chromium and
Copper Sulphate derived from waste storage operations on the plant site
and adjacent acreage.
The relocation of contaminated soil is required by a recently issued
Clean-up and Abatement Order by RWQCB #5. Details pertaining to the
waste analysis is in the files of Mr. Sterling Davis. I have discussed
our proposal to accept this material with Mr. Davis and Mr. Felipe of
your staff and they indicated that if disposal facilities were properly
designed, the waste could be accepted by Forward, Inc. providing approval
was granted by your executive officer and the California Department of
Health Services. (Mr. Mike Kiodo of the Hazardous Materials Management
Section, CD of H.S. has been working on the project with Mr. S. Davis of
your staff.)
