• Designed and conducted a comprehensive pre -demolition asbestos, lead paint and <br />hazardous material survey at a four-story retail store building. Identified significant <br />quantities of asbestos, lead paint, PCB light ballasts, and light tubes that require specific <br />handling procedures. <br />• Conducted an initial and comprehensive asbestos survey at a 19 -building former <br />magnesium manufacturing plant in south San Francisco which led to preparation of <br />specifications for the removal of more than 10,000 square feet of flooring, 8,000 linear feet <br />of pipe insulation, and numerous other materials. Selected the asbestos abatement <br />contractor based on the submittal of competitive bids. All work conducted by the selected <br />contractor, without any change -orders to the original scope of work, and completed under <br />budget and ahead of schedule. Also responsible for conducting on-site contractor oversight <br />during all asbestos removal activities. <br />• Conducted contractor oversight for a two-year period at an asbestos removal project in a <br />high profile, 50 -story office building in San Francisco. Included inspections of work areas <br />prior to removal activities, contractor oversight, final visual inspection, and collection of <br />clearance samples. <br />• Conducted a comprehensive asbestos survey of a 10 -story office building in preparation of <br />possible demolition of a building that was rendered unsafe by the earthquake of 1989. <br />Survey revealed several options for remediation of the building. Completed survey ahead of <br />schedule and under budget. <br />Environmental Assessments For Property Transactions <br />• Conducted Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including limited asbestos surveys, at <br />75 properties in California for a major financial institution. Client subsequently closed <br />escrow as a result of the assessments. <br />• Managed and participated in the assessment of 52 properties throughout the U.S. in a three- <br />week time frame, which were conducted in support of an acquisition of a banking institution. <br />Completed project on time and under budget. <br />• Conducted an ESA of a 17 -acre industrial park, which consisted of 18 buildings, some <br />having been in use since the 1920s when the property was occupied by a military arsenal. <br />Identified several regulatory issues, including underground storage tank (UST) closures that <br />had not been property documented. <br />Air Monitoring <br />• Mr. Hennis designed and conducted an air -monitoring project at a Bay Area Refinery during <br />the refurbishment of a 4 -story furnace. The air -monitoring project involved the coordination <br />with eight separate contractors including scheduling, providing results and adapting work <br />areas to allow several contractors to work within authorized areas. The project was <br />completed within time constraints (three-week schedule, 7 -days a week and 24 -hours per <br />day). <br />• Conducted ambient air monitoring of a construction project involving Serpentine Material <br />(asbestos -containing) located in the San Francisco Bay Area on behalf of the contractor to <br />ensure that heavy equipment such as excavators were not releasing airborne asbestos <br />CAC/ HENNIS.DOC 2 <br />6/30/10 <br />
