7
Austin Road Landfill ob -5- so 1-3 May 7 2000
Inspection Report
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
Pursuant to the MRP. Quarterly SMRs must include influent flow data reported in a flow rate of mgd.
Acid usage is not described within the current waste discharge requirements for the facility. At the
time of the inspection the acid auto-doser was non-operational and tubing from the dosing unit to the
influent of the air-stripper was severed. The acid in the storage tank does not appear to be needed at
this point in time and should be properly removed from the site.
The Regional Board needs additional information if acid is to be incorporated in the treatment process.
If it is determined by Regional Board staff that the acid treatment process significantly alters the quality
of the effluent, the permit may need to be reopened and additional effluent limitations adopted.
A copy of the NPDES permit and Air Quality Management District Permit to Operate need to be
present on site while the facility is operational.
General housekeeping is needed to remove used empty 55-gallon drums, remove spent sampling items,
maintain eye-wash station, and isolate small water leak from air stripper unit.
Independent laboratory analysis of the influent, effluent and receiving water samples by the Regional
Board found these parameters to be in compliance with permit limits.
ROBERT S. FAGERNESS, PE
Associate Nater Resources Control Engineer
Enclosure (discharger only): Analytical Laboratory Report
Approved:
