December 12, 1986
Project 116-1.5
The following anticipated monitoring well repair and closure work will
require 30-60 days to complete, and will commence within 30 days of
approval of this plan by staff of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board:
MW -1 and MW -2
These monitoring wells are not included in the monitoring program, and will
be properly abandoned in accordance with state and local regulations.
MW -7
A water -tight threaded cap has been put on the top of the well casing to
prevent surface water from flowing into the well. The concrete pad around
the well will be removed, and the surface seal will be inspected. If the
surface seal appears to be effective in excluding surface water, a new pad
will be constructed. If the surface seal is inadequate, the well will be
one of the first to be replaced. This well will eventually be replaced
because of the excessive length of the screened interval.
MW -9
The broken irrigation line will be repaired. A water -tight threaded cap
has been put on the top of the well to prevent surface water from flowing
into the well. This well will eventually be replaced because of the
excessive length of the screened interval.
MW -10
The cracked PVC cap has been replaced, and the wood chips that had
collected in the metal vault have been removed.. The locking vault will be
repaired, and a padlock will be installed. Water samples that were
obtained from this well on November 1.0, 1966, indicate that surface water
has flowed into this well, and it will be one of the first wells to be
replaced. The well will be closed in compliance with state and local
regulations.
MW -11
The sleeve of PVC that has been set over the well casing will be glued
securely in place. The metal vault lid will be repaired, and a padlock
will be installed. If it :is evident by the results of the fourth quarter
monitoring for 1986 that surface water has flowed into this well, it will
be one of the first wells to be replaced.
- 2 -
GBetac_Associates
