Biological Resources Evaluation Report
Griffith Energy Project
Table 6. Special-Status Species with Potential to Occur within the Project Site
Scientific Common Federal State Status
Name Name Status /Other Habitat Potential to Occur*
Status
Plants
Dry hills and plains in annual High. This species has been previously observed within
grassland. Clay to clay-loam the 150-meter buffer west of the Project site in 2003
soils; usually on slopes and (CDFW 2021 a). There is also a recorded observation
Blepharizonia Big tarplant None CRPR 1 B. often in burned areas. Foothill 1.5 miles east of the Project site from 2002 (CDFW
plumosa woodland, chaparral, valley 2021 a). Because there is a previous occurrence of a big
grassland at elevations of less tarplant population across the road from the Project site
than 500 meters. Blooming and suitable habitat is present on the site, the
period is from Jul-Nov. probability for this species to occur on the site is high.
High. CNDDB search results show that one population
was observed within the 150-meter buffer(on the
northwest portion)in 1987 (CDFW 2021 a). This
Valley grassland at elevations population extended about 1 mile along Midway road
Tropidocarpum Caper-fruited of less than 400 meters. (this road makes up the western boundary of the project
capparideum tropidocarpum None CRPR 1 B.1 Blooming period is from Mar- site). The most recent occurrence is from 2019,4 miles
Apr. from the Project site(CDFW 2021 a). The Project site
fulfills the habitat requirements of this species and
supports species within the same family, Brassicaceae
(e.g., Shepard's purse). Therefore, the potential for this
species to occur on the Project site is high.
Tetra Tech, Inc. 5-17 July 2023
