The bag shall be constructed of material of sufficient single <br /> thickness strength and shall be marked and certified by the manufacturer as having <br /> passed the tests prescribed for tear resistance in the American Society for Testing <br /> Materials (ASTM) D1922, "Standard Test Method for Propagation Tear Resistance of <br /> Plastic Film and Thin Sheeting by Pendulum Method" and for impact resistance in <br /> ASTM D1709, "Standard Test Methods for Impact Resistance of Plastic Film by the <br /> Free-Falling Dart Method;'. <br /> a. All biohazardous waste containers shall be labeled "Biohazardous Waste" <br /> or with the biohazardous symbol and must include the word "BIOHAZARD" <br /> on the lid and on the sides to be visible from any lateral direction. Round <br /> cans should have 3 bio-waste labels on the sides and on the top and <br /> square cans should have one on all four sides and the top. <br /> 5. Trace chemotherapy waste shall be collected in either yellow sharps containers or <br /> yellow bags/containers marked "CHEMOTHERAPY WASTE — INCINERATION ONLY" <br /> and have the biohazard symbol. <br /> a. Trace chemotherapy waste shall be labeled "CHEMOTHERAPY WASTE — <br /> INCINERATION ONLY." <br /> b. Linens and PPE contaminated with chemotherapeutic drugs or blood/ <br /> bodily fluids should be considered trace chemotherapy waste and placed <br /> into the appropriate chemotherapy (yellow) waste container for disposal. <br /> Do not mix with sharps waste to prevent blood borne pathogen exposure, <br /> use yellow sharps container. <br /> 6. Bulk chemotherapy waste should be placed in the black RCRA containers located in <br /> designated areas and labeled as such. The lid to the container should be kept closed <br /> except when placing an item into the container. Listen for the clicks that indicate it is <br /> locked. <br /> 7. Pathology waste shall be disposed of on a special basis in red biohazardous waste <br /> bag and placed into an approved container. <br /> a. Pathology waste shall be labeled "PATHOLOGY WASTE-INCINERATION <br /> ONLY" <br /> b. Contact the Environment Health & Safety Department if you have <br /> pathology waste for disposal. <br /> 8. Trash cans must be labeled with approved signage from Sutter Health System <br /> Office. Refer to Appendix F. <br /> 9. Waste product ordering and Lawson information, refer to Appendix G. <br /> C. Spills: <br /> 1. For spills refer to the Code Orange tab in the Sutter Health Emergency Management <br /> Guide and Appendix D in the SVMF Hazardous Communication Program. <br /> a.
