Forward Landfill WMU FU-23 02300 3 EARTHWORK
2. Particle size control tests by the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall be made on samples taken at the place of production prior to shipment. Samples for particle size control testing shall be taken in accordance with the frequency listed in Table 02300-1 or more often as determined by the QA/QC CONSULTANT, if variation in gradation is occurring, or if the material appears to depart from the Specifications. 3. If during placement of the material, control tests conducted by the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR or the acceptance tests conducted by the QA/QC CONSULTANT indicate that the material does not meet Specification requirements, material placement will be terminated until corrective measures are taken. Material that does not conform to the Specification requirements and is placed in the Work shall be removed and replaced at the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR's sole expense. Sampling and control testing performed by the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall be done at the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR's sole expense. 4. All materials shall meet specifications whether from samples taken from borrow sources or materials placed in the field. Materials for which borrow source samples meet Specification requirements but field samples taken do not, shall be rejected, removed and replaced at the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR's sole expense. 5. Table 02300-1 summarizes control testing frequencies required for each imported component. The EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR shall perform all imported material control testing for imported materials supplied by the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR.
Table 02300-1 Imported Material Control Testing Frequency

Test
(ASTM Designation)

Granular Drainage
Material (cy)

Coarse Gravel
(cy)
Particle Size (ASTM D422) 5,000 500
Laboratory Hydraulic Conductivity (ASTM
D2434)
5,000 500
Soil Classification (ASTM D2488, D2487) Continuous Continuous
B.
