Forward Landfill WMU FU-23 02300 28 EARTHWORK

3.23 SITE GRADING

A. Perform all earthwork to the lines and grades as shown on the Construction
Drawings and/or established by the DESIGN ENGINEER. Shape, trim, and
finish slopes of channels to conform with the lines, grades, and cross sections
shown. Make slopes free of all exposed roots and stones exceeding 3-inch
diameter that are loose and liable to fall. Round tops of banks to circular curves,
in general, not less than a 6-foot radius. Rounded surfaces shall be neatly and
smoothly trimmed. Neatly blend all new grading into surrounding, existing
terrain, and maintain current drainage patterns or modify drainage as shown on
the Construction Drawings. Overexcavating and backfilling to the proper grade
will not be acceptable. Finished site grading will be reviewed by the QA/QC
CONSULTANT.

3.24 TOLERANCES

A. Construct material limits within tolerance specified in Section 01410, SURVEYS.

3.25 TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEYS

A. Refer to Section 01410, SURVEYS, for requirements regarding preconstruction
surveys.

B. The OWNER will conduct detailed topographic surveys of site to document "as-
built" prepared subgrade on base and slope, thickness and grade of clay liner
installed, thickness of granular drainage layer installed, thickness of protective
operations layer installed, dimensions of termination berms and sumps,
terminations of geomembrane liner, and location of the interior crest of anchor
trenches. All surveys will be performed in accordance with Section 01410,
SURVEYS.

1. Measure area elevations on minimum 50-foot-grid over entire area and at all
breaks in grade.
2. Establish reference grid at minimum 50-foot centers for surveying materials
with a thickness requirement.
3. Measure linear dimensions a minimum of 50-feet on center.
4. Plot results of topographic surveys to scale of 1 inch equals 50 feet and
provide survey information in electronic format to QA/QC
CONSULTANT.
5. QA/QC CONSULTANT will check the survey. The EARTHWORK
CONTRACTOR shall not construct next layer of the lining system until
survey approval is provided by the QA/QCCONSULTANT. QA/QC
CONSULTANT's review shall be completed within 2 working days
following receipt of the as-built survey information.

3.24 ACCEPTANCE OF WORK
