Spill and Discharge Policy requirements and responsibilities: <br />Requirements: <br />• California Materials provides methods, means, and facility safeguards to <br />prevent contamination in the case of a spill or discharge of <br />chemical/hazardous waste. Methods are hands-on training and “Kick the <br />Bucket” training. Means are proper PRE provided to all employees. <br />Safeguards are spill kits, quik-sorb, fire extinguishers, shovels, <br />bags/containers for contaminated materials. <br />• All large spills/discharge must be properly documented by means of <br />California Materials Accident/lncident Investigation Report and reported to <br />the proper department if it is determined reportable by the Environmental <br />Protection Agency. Departments include Resource Conservation and <br />Recovery Act (RCRA), the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act (HMTA), <br />and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and <br />Liability Act (CERSCU\) within 2 days of the incident. <br />CMAT <br />according to programs and policy requirements, and uphold the <br />company’s disciplinary procedures to ensure compliance. <br />• Employees responsibility: be familiar with the contents of the Hazard <br />Communication Program, be able to identify of what hazardous materials <br />are being used, know the location of emergency contact list, SDS binder and <br />nearest wash out station, ensure proper PPE is being worn when handling <br />hazardous material, and complying with the company’s housekeeping <br />policy. <br />Responsibilities: <br />• Safety Compliance Manager: ensure all employees are trained and <br />knowledgeable on the hazardous materials on site, ensure spill kits and <br />other materials needed for possible spills/discharge are fully stocked, <br />provide employees with proper PPE, provide correction or avoidance for all <br />hazards, and ensure all accident/incident reports are completed in a timely <br />manner. <br />• Employees: identify chemical hazards associated with work site, wear proper <br />PPE when handling hazardous waste, maintain good housekeeping to avoid <br />any potential hazards, dispose of hazardous materials efficiently and
