• Containers must be: <br />▪Marked to identify contents and hazards <br />ᵒ Do not remove manufacturer labels <br />▪In good condition <br />▪Securely closed <br />▪Compatible with contents <br />Hazardous Materials Business Plan <br />Maintenance <br />All hazardous material containers must be marked. Containers can be marked with an <br />OSHA, DOT, HMIS, or NFPA label or with any other means provided that the container <br />identifies the contents and associated hazards. Do not remove any warning labels from a <br />container. All containers must be compatible with the material, and corrosive materials <br />should not be stored in metal containers. Containers must be in good condition, and there <br />should be no signs of contamination, damage, or rusting on containers. Containers must be <br />securely closed, unless the material is being used. <br />Hazardous chemicals, regardless of quantity, cannot be stored or used at any of the <br />district’s campuses. The lists of these extremely hazardous chemicals are attached here as <br />a reference. <br />If you discover unknown or unlabeled materials, materials with damaged containers, or any <br />extremely hazardous chemicals at your site, please notify the district’s Environmental <br />Compliance Technician. <br />31
