Site Health and Safety Plan Page 37 <br />10.2 Personnel Roles, Lines of Authority and Communication <br />Any site worker may activate the Emergency Response Plan. However, the SSHO, is <br />responsible for implementing the emergency response plan and coordinating emergency <br />response activities on this site. The SSHO, or designated alternate, shall also provide <br />direction for emergency action based upon information available regarding the incident and <br />response capabilities, initiate emergency procedures including protection of the public, and <br />ensure appropriate authorities are notified. <br />In accordance with 29 CFR 1926.35, in the event of an emergency, site worker shall be <br />evacuated and not participate in emergency response activities. <br />This site relies upon the off-site emergency response organizations listed in the Emergency <br />Response Contact information list to respond to site emergencies. In addition to <br />minimum training requirements established in Section 5, all worker shall receive periodic <br />briefings that cover potential site emergencies and procedures and techniques that may be <br />used to prevent such emergencies from occurring. <br />10.4 Safe Distances and Places of Refuge <br />Safe distances and places of refuge used in emergencies shall be shown on the site map <br />and all site workers and site visitors shall be briefed as to these locations. In the case of an <br />emergency, all site workers and site visitors shall immediately proceed to the designated <br />place of refuge or assembly area. The designated place of refuge shall be determined prior <br />to commencement of on-site activities. <br />10.5 Site Security and Control <br />In the case of an emergency, site security and control shall be provided by local emergency <br />response agencies (i.e., police), warning signs, and barrier tape.
