Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan
The Home Depot Store #5857
5 Arrangements with Local Authorities
In the event that outside assistance is necessary to contain and clean up a hazardous waste fire, explosion, or
release, the Emergency Coordinator or designee will request off-site support. The local authorities have been
provided with a copy of this Contingency Plan in order to familiarize themselves with the Site. See Appendix C for
the distribution list. The layout of the Site in Figure 2 shows evacuation routes and emergency equipment.
Where more than one police and fire department respond to an emergency, the senior official on-site from the first
responding fire department has primary authority, unless otherwise agreed upon by senior officials from all
responding fire departments. The other responders are to provide support to the primary emergency authority. A
list of emergency response agencies and contractors can be found in the emergency contact list in Section 3.3.
6 Associate Training
The Home Depot developed and implemented a comprehensive HHM Program to ensure proper management of
hazardous materials and hazardous wastes at its Sites.
