Revised Quarterly Monitoring Report –
Fourth Quarter/Annual 2024
www.arcadis.com
Revised - Forward Landfill 4Q24 Quarterly Mon Report 06262025 10
4.3.1 General
The current cannery season began in summer 2023 (when cannery waste was first applied) and continued
through spring 2024 (when the crops planted to remove nitrogen were harvested). A cannery waste land
application area (CWLAA) monitoring report for the 2023 to 2024 cannery season was prepared in early 2024
after the conclusion of the season; the report is provided in Appendix G.
No unusual conditions were observed at the CWLAA during fourth quarter 2024, and no corrective actions were
taken.
4.3.2 Cannery Waste Land Application Area Groundwater Monitoring
Program
Under MRP Section D.3.c (RWQCB 2024a), alternative shallow groundwater monitoring wells were selected for
the CWLAA monitoring network to detect levels of waste constituents. The four shallow groundwater monitoring
wells are AMW-14, AMW-44, AMW-45, and AMW-46. Groundwater monitoring wells AMW-44, AMW-45, and
AMW-46 are considered to be hydraulically downgradient and are located on the northern edge of the CWLAA.
Groundwater monitoring well AMW-14 is also a downgradient well, but located approximately 775 feet northeast
of the CWLAA. Results of the waste constituents for the alternative wells are presented in Table 9.
In accordance with MRP Section D.3.d, the CWLAA monitoring wells are sampled quarterly for total Kjeldahl
nitrogen, nitrate, nitrite, total nitrogen, iron, and manganese (in addition to the monitoring parameters outlined in
MRP Tables 2 and 3 [RWQCB 2024a]).
4.3.3 Quarterly Results
The monitoring results for the CWLAA monitoring wells for fourth quarter 2024 are summarized in Table 9. The
water quality protection standards for the CWLAA constituents (total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate, nitrite, total
nitrogen, iron, and manganese) were recalculated in fourth quarter 2024 using data collected through third quarter
2024. The detected analyte concentrations in the four wells were less than the applicable water quality protection
standards.
4.4 Site Monitoring
This section describes the types and quantities of waste handled at the Site during fourth quarter 2024, describes
the standard observations conducted for the Site, and provides an update regarding site compliance. Site
inspections are conducted in accordance with MRP Section D.4 (RWQCB 2024a).
4.4.1 Waste Types and Quantities
The types and quantities of waste handled at the Site during fourth quarter 2024 are summarized in Table 4-2
below. Documentation of waste types and quantities is included in Appendix F. The compost facility is discussed
in more detail in Section 4.4.3, and the surface impoundments are discussed in more detail in Section 4.1.3.
