28 December 2020 AdvancedGeo
Project No. 17-4073 An Employee-Owned Company
Page 2 of 5
Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S.
Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to boring and
abandonment activities, a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
2.2. SOIL BORING ADVANCEMENT AND SAMPLING
AGI is proposing to advance and sample a total of 5 soil borings at various locations
throughout the site. Soil borings B1 through B5 will be advanced to a total depth of 10
feet below surface grade (bsg) for collection of soil samples. All borings will be advanced
utilizing a 4-inch hand auger and a direct push drilling rig. During boring advancement,
discrete soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals at 5 and 10 feet bsg; the 5-foot
sample will be hand packed from the hand auger during utility clearance, while the 10-foot
sample will be collected using a direct push drilling rig. The locations of the proposed soil
borings are illustrated in Figure 2.
Procedures for advancement of soil borings and soil sampling are presented in
Section 3.0.
2.3. WELL DESTRUCTION
AGI is proposing to destroy wells MW-2 and MW-7 by removing all material within the
original boreholes utilizing over-drill techniques. All original well construction materials will
be removed by the drill rig to ensure that no residual contamination is sealed within the
abandoned borehole nor a filter pack remaining to act as a vertical conduit.
Procedures for the destruction of wells MW-2 and MW-7 are presented in Section 3.0.
2.4. REPORT PREPARATION
Results of the soil boring advancement, sampling and well destruction will be presented
in a report of findings.
Details regarding the report are presented in Section 4.0.
3.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGI representative under the supervision of a
California Professional Geologist. Procedures for soil boring advancement, soil sample
collection and well destruction are described below.
