activities were conducted under the supervision of FR's California Professional Geologist (PG). Soil boring logs <br /> are provided in Appendix C. <br /> Soil samples were collected with a Geoprobe Large Bore Sampler that measures 2 feet by 1.5 inches and is <br /> capable of recovering discrete samples inside removable liners that measure up to 320 mL in volume. The liner <br /> is a thin-walled tube that fits inside the sample tube, facilitates retrieval of the sample, and may be used for <br /> storage when applicable. No headspace was present in the tube once the sample was collected. When a soil <br /> sample was collected, both ends of a given tube were immediately covered with Teflon tape, capped with <br /> polyethylene lids, and packed in an ice chest to maintain a minimum 4 degrees Centigrade temperature to <br /> minimize potential volatilization prior to delivery to the laboratory. The samples were labeled with the sample <br /> identification number and the sampling depth. <br /> Soil samples were collected from soil borings SB1 through SB3 and analyzed for one or more of the following <br /> analytical suites:volatile organic compounds (VOCs)via EPA Method 8260B; total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) <br /> (full-range organics) via EPA Method 8015B; and CAM 17 Metals via EPA Methods 6010B and 7471A <br /> Three (3) soil vapor probes were installed at soil borings SB1 through SB3 and soil vapor samples were collected <br /> for analysis of VOCs using EPA Method TO-15. Soil gas sampling was performed by hydraulically pushing soil gas <br /> probes to depths of approximately 5 feet bgs. The borings were capped to the surface with dedicated tubing to <br /> collect soil vapor at approximately 5 feet bgs. The sample locations were sealed to the surface (sans sample <br /> tubing) using grout and a collection shroud. Soil gas sample locations were evacuated of air using a pump, and <br /> shut-in test was conducted during purging and sampling to ensure sample extraction from the probe location. <br /> The probes were purged at a flow rate of two liters per minute, and a minimum three probe tubing volume was <br /> extracted prior to sampling. Vapor samples were collected into dedicated laboratory provided Summa canisters <br /> using dedicated Teflon and Masterflex tubing. All tubing was discarded between sampling locations. Sample flow <br /> rate was set from 0.5 to 1 liters per minute and measured using a flow meter. <br /> Three (3) borings were advanced to a depth of 25 bgs, and Groundwater was encountered at approximately 23 <br /> bgs. Borehole groundwater samples were collected via temporary monitoring wells using dedicated Teflon and <br /> Masterflex tubing and a check valve sample head. Groundwater samples collected in laboratory preserved <br /> sample containers for VOCs, and containers were confirmed to have no annular head-space. <br /> Following collection of samples, each borehole was backfilled with neat cement under the supervision of the San <br /> Joaquin County Environmental Health Department and restored to pre-drilling condition by applying patching <br /> materials. All soil and groundwater samples were kept in a cooler on ice following sample collection. Samples <br /> were transported directly to the laboratory for analysis following the completion of field activities. <br /> 4.0 Field Observations <br /> Soil boring logs are provided in Appendix C. Soil samples were screened in the field for volatile organic <br /> compounds using a photoionization detector (PID) instrument.
